| St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day 2008.
Jack Hessler and I headed down to the new stadium a little after 1 PM for the
3:15 game so we could see the pre-game ceremonies starting at 2:30 PM.
Well, after driving around downtown for about an hour and a half looking for
someplace to park, we headed to Harry's Bar on Market Street figuring we could
ride their shuttle. Well, that plan worked and we got to the game just
about in time for the first pitch. Missed all the opening ceremonies,
including the Clydesdales, but hey, we're at the ballpark for opening day, can't
be all bad! Wrong, wrong, wrong on that. By the bottom of the third,
with us leading by a score of 5-1, the rains came. We hung around for
awhile and then saw the Harry's shuttle and bailed. Met a nice couple on
the shuttle and had a few drinks with them at Harry's before we headed home.
It wasn't a ballgame, it was an adventure! At least we have a story to
tell about opening day at the ballpark. |
