Fourth of July Weekend 2006 on the river

Spent the long Fourth of July weekend on the river.  Saturday, after a leisurely boat ride, we rafted up with some friends in a slough between Two Branch Island and the Illinois shoreline.  Stayed out on the boat that night and then came back into Woodland Marina to do some chores and parts running.  Called the new Grafton Harbor and reserved a couple of slips for Monday night so we could watch the fireworks.  Monday, after another leisurely ride, we arrived in Grafton Harbor and were promptly taken care of by their very accommodating staff.  They fixed us up with slips where we had a fantastic view of the fireworks.  Can't say enough nice things about the staff there.  One of the dockhands, Nathan, even offered to run us up to one of the restaurants in town if we wanted.  The entire operation is first class and we will definitely go there anytime we head over to Grafton.  In fact, everywhere we went in town, the people were extremely friendly and helpful.  Tuesday morning we ate breakfast at Lilly's Landing, about a mile and a half walk down the bike path from the marina, and the lady there told us to call next time and they will either come get us at the marina or deliver our breakfast right to the boat!  Needless to say all of this made for a very pleasant stay.  Bob and Janet came by with their new "River Pig", the boat Bob is fixing up so they can come up to the river more often, and took it on it's maiden voyage and then returned Monday evening to watch the fireworks with us.
