Concord Lions Fish for Sight 2007

The Concord Village Lions Club had their annual "Fish for Sight" charity bass tournament at Truman Lake again this year on April 28th, 2007

George and I did not fish it this year, but instead, we went down on Thursday to do a little boating, a little fishing and to help with what we could at the tournament.  Thursday was typical FFS weather, raining, cold and windy!  So we decided to forego putting the boat in and went looking for the Rathgeber Estate in the campground.  As we circle the campground we came upon a camper trailer leaning precariously to one side with three guys trying to hold it up!  Looked like immigration had some illegals up against the wall assuming the position.  Turns out it was only the Rathgeber clan checking to see how soft the mud was.  In a failed attempt to park the trailer at the edge of the gravel Brandon had managed to bury it to the frame on one side.  Rick's giant Ford F-350 4 wheel drive crew cab couldn't quite pull it out so we hooked the little Explorer to the front of the truck and pulled the whole works out.  Kind of reminiscent of "The Little Engine That Could".  After Rick cleaned the mud off it Brandon managed to get it into another spot with a little firmer ground.  Then Rick looked at his bass boat and realized he had forgotten his trolling motor back at the Lake House.  Things are really starting off well so far!  Several of us successfully unloaded their new stainless steel gas grill from the truck and they finished setting up camp.  Rick and Brandon then proceeded to cook up some delicious pork steaks and chicken for the gang.  Friday George and I did a little boating and fishing and then came in for the fish fry at the pavilion.  Another fantastic meal provided by the Lions.  Saturday George and I again did a little boating and fishing and then came in to help with the bar-b-cue at the pavilion.  Feeding about 600 people (256 boats entered with 2 to a boat and the army of people needed to put on the tournament) takes a little time.  Another great meal by the Lions.  Took some pics during the weekend, special thanks to George for taking some while I was serving food, check them out by clicking on the link below:
