Memorial Day Weekend 2006 Went up to the river on Thursday to get the boat all cleaned up and ready for Memorial Day weekend. My first official boat ride of the season on the big boat was Thursday evening. Crusher and I were at Sharky's Cove and saw a boat passing that looked like it was going to hit the wing dike between Sharky's and Captain Jack's. Sure enough, we saw the stern bounce as it went over. I called the boat in distress from the marine radio behind the bar and the Captain answered "Darryll?". Turns out it was our friend Bob Nuelle in "The Manhattan". So Crusher and I went and got my boat and towed him to Yacht Club of St. Louis. Damage report was the entire lower unit and some fiberglass damage on the keel near the transom. Here's a pic of "The Manhattan" under tow.
Friday Maureen and I took a leisurely pleasure cruise and then stopped at Doug and Amy's dock in Lake Center for some socializing and beverages. Saturday was mostly taken up with Little John's Marine Service's Annual Hog Roast. Check out the pictures at: I have also posted them on Little John's Marine Service website at: Sunday was mostly relaxing, a leisurely cruise down to Portage Des Sioux and anchoring in Mason Chute. Enjoy, Darryll |
